WebVoyage Use our web-based online catalog, WebVoyage, to locate books in our library. A help sheet is available to assist you in using the catalog.
WebVoyage can be used to search for items for all DeVry libraries, as well as for Kansas City's specific items. Contact library staff at the Circulation Desk for further assistance with the catalog.

Item Retrieval Options If the DeVry Kansas City library does not have what you're looking for, there are several options available for locating the item.

  • Area Libraries: Many area libraries have online catalogs available for general use.
  • Public Library: Library cards can be obtained directly from the Mid-Continent, Johnson County, Kansas City, MO, and Kansas City, KS public libraries.
  • Interlibrary Loan: Most items can be made available via Interlibrary Loan from local, regional, national, and other DeVry libraries. Requested items can take up to two weeks to be received.
  • Courtesy Card: Several metropolitan-area colleges & universities participate in the UMKC Courtesy Card program.

Interlibrary Loan Interlibrary loan is available to DeVry faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students. Requested items can take up to two weeks to arrive, so make sure to submit your request in plenty of time to beat assignment deadlines. The length of checkout is at the discretion of the lending library.
  • To submit a request for an interlibrary loan item, come to the library (Room 216) and fill out one of the pink Interlibrary Loan forms.
  • If you are not available to fill out a paper request form in person, you can submit requests for books or articles through the library's web page.

ProQuest To find articles in journals, magazines, and newspapers, use our subscription to ProQuest. This subscription provides access to over 8000 publications, and many of the articles are available in full-text format.  Several subject-specific databases are available via ProQuest, such as ABI/INFORM Complete, Applied Science & Technology Plus, Business Dateline, Career and Technical Education, ProQuest Psychology Journals, and ProQuest Telecommunications.  For business-related information, the ProQuest database also contains full text articles from the Wall Street Journal.

EBSCOhost Use our subscription to the EBSCOhost Computer Select database to find articles related to computer science, programming, information systems, robotics, software, and similar subjects.  Full-text articles are available from over 300 publications within this database, including Computer Science Education, Electromagnetics, International Journal of Electronics, Journal of High Speed Networking, Computer World, MacWorld, and PC Magazine.

Print Periodicals
  • A list of DeVry Kansas City's current print periodical and microfiche subscriptions is available. If you find an online article citation that does not have full text, check the print list to see if we carry that subscription. Also, it may be possible to retrieve the article through interlibrary loan, if a lender is available.
  • CQ Researcher is a strong source of articles on current issues and events. CQ Researcher is available in the library's Reference area (call number Ref H 35 .E352).

netLibrary DeVry University currently has access to 8,000 e-book titles on various subjects via netLibrary. In order to use netLibrary, you must first create a User ID and Password from an on-campus computer. Once your login has been created, you can access netLibrary from any computer on- or off-campus.

Other Electronic Databases The DeVry Kansas City Library also has subscriptions to several other databases, including:
  • Faulkner's Advisory on Computers and Communications Technologies (FACCTs)
  • Hoover's Online
  • CorpTech
While some of the subscribed databases can only be accessed on campus, others are available to users off-campus. User ID and password sheets for available off-campus databases are available at the Circulation Desk of the library, as well as on the library's Intranet site.

Reference Sources

In addition to our collection of print sources, our Reference Room contains links to several online sources of information, from almanacs to writing sources.

Additional reference-related sources include and online version of Encyclopędia Britannica, and AccessScience (The Online Encyclopedia of Science and Technology). Areas addressed within AccessScience include computing & information technology, math, psychiatry & psychology, physics, and others.
