Sorkin's Online This site is available only from the Kansas City Campus. It offers local business directory information for Kansas City, St. Louis, and Chicago. (On Campus only)
Hoover's Online This site allows you to search for
companies according to industry and name.

CorpTech Database is only
available on campus. It contains profiles of more than
50,000 manufactures and developers of technology products, including smaller,
privately held companies.

Reference USA Business Database provides detailed information on more than 12 million U.S. businesses. (On Campus or via student e-mail)
2. Examine its history and viability. Researching a company's history, number of employees, and financial information can be a powerful decision making tool.
Hoover's Online This site is designed for investors. It allows investors to research a company's history, number of employees, financial information, main competitors, and other criteria. DeVry University has a subscription to the most detailed information offered through the site. (On Campus or via student e-mail)

EDGAR The U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission online database. This site will assist you in determining if the company you are researching is a publicly or privately held.
3. See if your company is in the news. The best way to keep on the rapidly changing world of business and how it has affected the company you are researching is to search through a news database.
EBSCOhost This is a database available only to Kansas City DeVry clients. It lists newspaper, magazine, and trade journal articles. These publications are updated daily and contain fast breaking news. (On Campus or via student e-mail)
ProQuest This is a database available only to Kansas City DeVry clients. It lists newspaper, magazine, and trade journal articles. These publications are updated daily and contain fast breaking news. (On Campus or via student e-mail)
Google News This search engine allows you to access over 4,000 news sources from around the planet. The service is free.
4. Examine the company's webpage. After discovering if the company is compatible with your goals, examine their website for information on career leads or contact points for job information. Generally, company websites can be found through a major search engine.
